Dr. Nasima Akter graduated from from Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka. After completing internship and post graduation training, she started her career as Assistant Registrar in Pediatrics in Institute of Child & Mother Health (ICMH). She completed Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and was promoted as Registrar, Pediatrics.

Dr. Nasima Akter obtained fellowship (FCPS) in Pediatrics from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). She serviced 12 years in the Institute of Child & Mother Health (IMCH) and involved in teaching of post graduate students. She had several training in neonatal resuscitation, breast-feeding, diarrheal diseases, integrated management of childhood illness, child health care, infant & young child feeding, and research methodology etc. Dr. Nasima Akter became master trainer of IMCI.
